If more people could address these difficult topics with as much compassion and nuance as you both do, it would create a very different environment for everyone involved. There are no easy answers, and your careful approach that validates all sides is a much needed approach.
When Rose talks about the HSP sensory gating system, the way I've understood that is "flooding". The system gets flooded with emotion, stimuli, etc. As a NPSP (not particularly sensitive person) in a family of HSPs, that visual has helped me tremendously to understand what happens in those moments of overwhelm.
Such important and nuanced perspective here. Tysm for making this public. Much needed. Looking back over your feed. I wish I had seen these conversations prior to my youngest's need to transition. Not that I could have prevented anything especially with the lens of battling 2 cultures, attunement, ASD, etc.. But also with her need for individuation as we were very close. She's in her mid 20's.. It all applies.
