Thank you Jen for writing this. I look forward to your response post on my Archetypal FTM essay from a parental perspective!

Oh Laura! I started it a few weeks ago, but it's harder than I thought it would be. I'm also eager to write about the concept of "counterwill" that I think would really benefit parents to understand. In it's simplest form, counterwill can be defined as the human instinct to not be controlled. I've been talking with Jessie about an article for Third Factor, and this conversation has made me realize I just don't do well with assignments. Even assignments I give myself, I think might trigger my own counterwill! (I put a lot of pressure on myself to "do right" by you and the concepts I hoped to highlight in that piece.) I got a good few pages done, then I abandoned it to write what ended up being Testimony and Confessions. That said, I just reread what I have so far, and I like it--I'll try to work on finishing it this week. Maybe I'll break it up into parts. "Chunk it down" has always been a helpful idea for me and those I've worked with over the years to make things seem less overwhelming. ;)

Thank you! I find comfort in reading similar experiences. I started this journey in absolute fear. I had the expected reaction. As I regain footing and keep pivoting with the ever changing typical teenage journey I am learning to become more confident fairly quickly and to remember my intuition. If anything this experience is teaching me how to be an even better parent.
