This is so great. Levana’s experience is so important because it wasn’t the school system. Her daughter was homeschooled. It was social influence. And it reminds me to stay close so that my daughter doesn’t replace me with “friends” who will lead her to destroy herself. Thank you!!!

This is actually rampant among home/unschooled families too. More on that in my interview with Jenny Cyphers. As you point out, it's crucial for us to, in the words of Neufeld and Mate, "hold on to our kids" so we maintain strong influence in a world where our attachments are so easily frayed by the structures of our culture.
