Don't Hide from Me

I told my therapist (who I started seeing after learning of my daughter’s trans ID, and who I had to stop seeing when we moved to another state) that I rarely, like almost never, dream about my children. She asked  me, “What do you think it means that you never dream about your children?”

It felt like an “a-ha” moment. My answer was that it was an indication that I don’t worry about them. Since learning more about dreams and paying more attention to my own (you can read about a recent one here) I’ve discovered that just because my children don’t generally appear in my dreams, doesn’t mean I don’t dream about them. Our subconscious uses imagery and symbolism in interesting ways to communicate with us.

Last night though, there she was. Without question, it was my beautiful daughter.
